Carolina RHP Max Povse (2-1, 1.69) at Salem LHP Jalen Beeks (2-1, 2.25)
The Mudcats begin a seven game road trip with game one of a three game series in Salem tonight against the Southern Division leading Red Sox. The Mudcats are coming off back-to-back series wins against Wilmington and Lynchburg and are 4-1 over their last five games and 5-5 over their last 10. RHP Max Povse gets the series opening start in Salem tonight for Carolina. He enters the game at 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA and as the league leader in ERA, WHIP (0.71) and average against (.163). Povse has started four times this season and has four quality starts this year. Mudcats starters have turned in five straight quality starts and have eight total quality starts this year. Povse pitched through a career high seven and 2/3 innings his last time out. His last start came against Wilmington on 4/26 and included seven strikeouts, two runs allowed and five hits.
Today's game begins at 7:05 p.m. at LewisGale Field in Salem, VA and will air on the Mudcats Radio Network with the pregame show beginning at 6:50 p.m.
