The Mudcats continue their home stand tonight with game one of four against the Carolina League Northern Division leading Lynchburg Hillcats. The Hillcats enter at 22-11 this season and currently sit 4.0 games ahead of second place Potomac in the Northern Division first half race. The Mudcats, meanwhile, are in third place in the Southern Division and are 9.5 games back of first place Salem.
RHP Wes Parsons gets the spot start for the Mudcats tonight in place of LHP Ryan Lawlor who was transferred to the Danville roster earlier this week. Parsons has started just one other time this season for Carolina, but is 0-0 with a 4.67 ERA over nine games between the bullpen and rotation this season. His lone start of the year came on 5/3 in game two of a doubleheader in Salem where he allowed one unearned run (three total) on four hits over four innings pitched. He battled his way through injuries last season and was only able to appear in five games between the GCL Braves, the Rome Braves and the Mudcats. Overall, Parsons is 13-14 in his career and has pitched to a 3.81 ERA in 56 games and 47 starts... LHP Luis Lugo starts for the Hillcats in tonight's series opener. His last start came against the Mudcats on 5/8 and ended up turning into his second win of the season after he held Carolina to a run and five hits over six innings pitched. Lugo is 2-1 with a 4.31 ERA and over six starts this season. He has struck out 26, walked eight and allowed 36 hits (.288 avg. against) over 31.1 innings this year.
Tonight's game begins at 7:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC and will air on the Mudcats Radio Network with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
