Mavericks Win 3-1 over Americans

ALLEN, TX - The Missouri Mavericks defeated the Allen Americans 3-1 on Sunday evening at Allen Event Center, splitting their weekend series against their long-time division rival after a 4-1 defeat Saturday night.

Missouri set the pace with an aggressive start, owning the on-ice opportunities in the Americans zone from the first whistle. Though it was not until the final minutes of the opening period that the Mavs would get their chance to make a mark on the scoreboard when Reed Seckel lit the lamp at 17:57. Garret Ladd and Scott Howes were credited with the assists on the opening play.

The Mavs then doubled their lead 2-0 over the Americans at 3:03 when Josh Holmstrom deflected the puck past Jake Hildebrand with assists to Sebastien Sylvestre and Rocco Carzo.

Then Sylvestre made his own mark on the score sheet when he lit the lamp at 3:27 of the final frame with the help of Holmstrom and defenseman Chris Owens.

The Mavericks owned a 3-0 lead until the Americans were given a power-play opportunity and pulled net-minder Hildebrand for a 5-on-3 advantage. Tristan King made the lone tally for the Americans at 15:26.

Net-minder Josh Robinson made 41 saves between the pipes for Missouri for a full 60 minutes of play, earning his twenty-seventh win of the season for the Mavs.

The Missouri Mavericks return home to Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Mar. 30 for a 7:05p.m. match-up against the Quad City Mallards. Tickets for all Missouri Mavericks home games are available online at Ticketmaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
