WEEK AHEAD

Wednesday, October 13 - Missouri Mavericks Meet and Greet at Rib Crib, 6-8p.m.

The second edition of the Missouri Mavericks will be at Rib Crib this Wednesday for a meet and greet. Rib Crib is located two blocks east of Independence Events Center. Starting at 6 p.m., fans are encouraged to join the entire team and staff for the first chance to meet the 2010-11 Mavericks. Rib Crib will also have specials on all-you-can-eat ribs and drinks.

Friday, October 15 - Missouri Mavericks vs. Odessa Jackalopes, 7:05 p.m. CST

The Mavericks host the Jackalopes on Opening Night at Independence Events Center. Odessa finished the regular season with the best record in the Central Hockey League last season (48-11-5, 101 points), but the Jacks were defeated by the Allen Americans in seven games in the Southern Conference Finals. Head Coach Scott Hillman spent eight seasons with the Jackalopes before beginning his coaching career, and he led the Mavericks to a 1-1-1 record against the Jackalopes last season

Saturday, October 16 - Missouri Mavericks vs. Bloomington PrairieThunder, 7:05 p.m. CST

The PrairieThunder head into their fifth anniversary season this year, and first season in the CHL. The former IHL team is led by a new head coach, Jason Christie, who coached the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies for four seasons before heading to Bloomington. This will be the first of three meetings between the Mavericks and PrairieThunder this season. Forward Craig Macdonald returns to the team after burying a team-record 44 goals last season. Bloomington finished just shy of the playoffs last season with a 31-34-5-6 record and finished fourth in the IHL.

Weekly Record: 0-0-0 Overall: 0-0-0

The Mavericks defeated the Evansville IceMen in a pair of exhibition games this weekend by a combined score of 11-3. Missouri's record will not reflect the two exhibition games.

Notes

Roster - Mavericks' head coach Scott Hillman will need to trim his roster to 19 players before opening night. Central Hockey League rules state each team may have 19 players on the roster and a maximum of 18 players in the lineup for any one particular game.

Returning Mavs - 11 players are currently on the Mavericks' 2010-11 roster that played for the Mavericks at some point during the team's inaugural season. Goaltender Gerry Festa is the lone returning goaltender. Forwards Toby Lafrance, Simon Watson, Derek Pallardy, Carlyle Lewis, Karl Sellan, Nick Sirota and Brett Hammond all played for the Mavericks last season and are currently on the roster for the 2010-11 season. Defensemen Jared Lavender, Blake Forsyth and Chris Mifflen are also returning to the blue line for Missouri.

Pre-season Production - Four different players led the Mavericks in scoring in the two exhibition games against Evansville. Ryan Sparling, Nick Sirota, Dominic D'Amour and Blake Forsyth all had three points in the two games. The Mavericks also had 10 different players score goals with Tab Lardner as the only player to record two goals.

Special Teams - The Mavericks had a 100% penalty kill rate in the two exhibition games by killing all 13 power play chances for Evansville. The Mavericks also had a pair of shorthanded goals. Missouri scored two power play goals on 14 chances for a success rate of 14.3%.

Community Heroes - The Mavericks recognized Community Heroes during the first intermission of Saturday's game against Evansville. The team accepted nominations from the public and recognized those heroes at intermission by presenting a game-worn jersey from Friday night's exhibition game to each hero.
