Mallards in the Community

October 11, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

The Mallards are proud to begin Hockey for Helping Hands for the 2010-2011 season. The intent of the program is to recognize Good Samaritans and reward behavior that often goes unnoticed in the community. Vouchers for Mallards tickets will be distributed by Quad Cities police, fire, and sheriff departments as positive behavior is witnessed in the community. As tickets are redeemed, Good Samaritans will be chosen at random to be recognized at Mallards' home games in appreciation of their efforts. The Quad City Mallards would like to sincerely thank the Quad Cities police, fire and sheriff departments for their collaboration in implementing Hockey for Helping Hands. Those participating include: Davenport Police, Bettendorf Fire, Moline Fire, Rock Island Police, East Moline Fire, East Moline Police, and the Scott County Sheriff Department.

CBS4 Let's Play Hockey Kid of the Game:

Before each Mallards home game this season, one lucky young fan will be chosen to take to the ice at the i wireless Center and get the action started in traditional hockey style by declaring "let's play hockey!" Each winner will receive four free tickets to the game they attend as the Let's Play Hockey Kid of the Game and will see their name "up in lights" on the giant video board when they step onto the ice at the i wireless Center. Entries may be submitted via the Mallards' official website at

http://myqcmallards.com/community/letsplay/. Children 12 and under are eligible to be named the Let's Play Hockey Kid of the Game. Entries submitted on behalf of children by parents and other relatives are welcome, as are entries from kids themselves that include a parent's name.
