IceMen Set To Take On Riverkings
October 11, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- Returning home following two consecutive setbacks the past weekend in Missouri, the Evansville IceMen will cap their brief three-games' pre-season docket when they make their first home appearance of the 2010-11 season as full-fledged members of the Central Hockey League.
Under the direction of General Manager / Coach Rich Kromm, the IceMen will tangle with the Mississippi RiverKings this Monday night, October 11th at 7:05 pm at Swonder Ice Arena in concluding CHL pre-season action.
Plenty of excellent, choice seats are still available for the IceMen/Mississippi clash with tickets specially priced for only $7. Please contact the IceMen for more ticket information at (812) 435-8971 or on their web-site at www.evansvilleicemen.com.
The past weekend, the IceMen's maiden voyage was a rather inauspicious one as the hometown team bowed to the Mavericks by results of 7-1 Friday night and 4-2 Saturday night. With the CHL staging OTSO competitions at the conclusion of each league-wide pre-season contest, the IceMen did seem to salvage some form of redemption and salvation by ultimately prevailing on those consecutive nights in the extra sessions. It was an Evansville 3-2 OTSO success Friday night followed by a 2-0 triumph in the encore presentation on Saturday.
Thus far, center Nicklas Lindberg 2(1-1-2) and right wing Chris Campanale 2(0-2-2) have led the IceMen offensive attack with each delivering an OTSO strike as well, The latter's cannonading shot represented the ultimate GWG in game #1 of the series. Lindberg struck in the "showdown shootout" affair on both nights. First year goalkeeper David Wilson has compiled an 1(0-1-0) mark thus far, but is an impeccable 2(2-0-0) in the OTSO, rebuking 8 of 10-shots in the process.
Following Monday night's home contest against Mississippi, the IceMen will prepare for their official inaugural week in the CHL when they travel to Dayton, Saturday, October 16th for a 6:30 pm (CDT) bout to officially open the season against the Gems with broadcast time on WEOA-AM 1400 set for 6:00 pm.
The Icemen's home opening night extravaganza is set for Saturday, October 23rd at Swonder Ice Arena at 7:35 pm against the Quad City Mallards. Presently, Evansville lists 23-players on its roster and will carry 19-names on their lineup card once regular season commences later in this coming week.
