INDEPENDENCE, MO (February 10, 2015) - The Missouri Mavericks overwhelmed the visiting Tulsa Oilers by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday night in front of over 1,500 local law enforcement officers and administrators from more than 30 different Missouri precincts and sheriff's departments.

The Mavericks took advantage of two power play opportunities in the opening period to jump ahead of the Oilers 2-0, first with Andrew Courtney lighting the lamp at 7:16, assisted by Landon Oslanski and Sebastien Thinel. Ryley Grantham then tallied his third goal of the season at 16:29 with help from teammates Jack Downing and Jared Brown.

Tulsa made their first mark on the scoreboard just under six minutes into the second frame when Matthew Larke bested Mavs goaltender Mike Clemente in the crease. Ricards Birzinsh and Brady Ramsay picked up assists on the play.

That wouldn't end the scoring run of the second period are Independence Events Center, as Lindsay Sparks went on to score two goals, first at 6:06 (assisted by Brown and Downing) and then again at 12:35 (unassisted). Sparks' lamplighters were split by a goal from Josh Brittain (assisted by Dylan Hood and Patch Alber) at 12:14.

T.J. Caig took advantage of a 5-on-3 man-advantage to double the Oilers efforts at 15:32 (assisted by Jon Booras and Scott Macaulay) before Andrew Courtney tallied his second goal of the night-and 99th professional goal- just shy of a minute later at 16:31 with an assist from Hood to end the period with the Mavs up 6-2.

Kyle Bochek gave Tulsa a boost at 4:12 of the third period, as his team did their best to throw everything they had at the Mavs net with 13 shots on goal in the frame. Team Captain and veteran left wing, Sebastien Thinel netted the final tally of the evening at 17:36 to earn Missouri a significant 7-3 home victory over the Tulsa Oilers. Geoff Walker and Landon Oslanski were credited with assists on Thinel's thirteenth goal of the season.

The action was not over after the final horn sounded amidst the roaring crowd of happy Mavericks fans at the IEC, as a bet was due to be settled. The win on Tuesday night earned the Mavs their fifth victory in their seven-game home stand, meaning goaltender Mike Clemente's famous locks were safe, and Head Coach Richard Matvichuk and Associate Coach Simon Watson were due for a close shave.

Fans gathered in the corner stands to watch a gleeful Clemente take clippers to the hair of his coach before the specialty jersey auction, benefitting the Mavs makeover of the Independence Police Department locker rooms took place.

The Mavericks play their next game on the road against the Quad City Mallards tomorrow evening at 7:05pm (CST) at the iWireless Center in Moline, IL. Missouri returns home on Friday, February 20th when they are set to take on the Allen Americans at 7:05pm.
