INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks were defeated 4-2 in their first-ever match-up against the South Carolina Stingrays at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The game was also Missouri's first and only out of conference regular season contest of their 2015-16 ECHL campaign.
Tyler Barnes gave the home team a 1-0 lead at 6:33 of the first period with the help of Jesse Root and Rocco Carzo, but the Stingrays tied it up at 11:46 when Stephan Vigier bested Stephon Williams in-goal at 11:46, assisted by Brett Cameron and Nick D'Agostino.

The Mavs took back the lead just 2:07 into the second frame when defenseman Matt Finn scored his fourth goal of the season for Missouri with a lone helper from teammate Reed Seckel. South Carolina answered back late in the period with a power-play goal scored by Joe Devin (assisted by Vigier and Pacan).
The visiting Stingrays then edged the Mavs at 5:56 of the final period when Jared Staal scored to make it 3-2 South Carolina. Trevor Gillies aided on the game-winning goal.
The Mavericks pulled net-minder Williams from the crease with just over a minute remaining in regulation, but were unable to tie the game and force an overtime decision after Wade Epp sealed a 4-2 victory for the Stingrays with an empty net goal at 19:16.
The loss is only the Mavericks second at home of the season. Missouri maintains the leading home record in the league at 18-2-0-0.
The Mavs play their next seven games at home, beginning this weekend with a three-game back-to-back-to-back series Friday, Feb. 12 (7:05p.m.), Saturday, Feb. 13 (7:05p.m.), and Sunday, Feb. 14 (4:05p.m.) against the Indy Fuel.
Friday night is Andrew Courtney bobble head night! The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a limited edition Andrew Courtney bobble head upon entrance. Doors open at 6:00p.m. at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
