Kansas City Mavericks News Release
RAPID CITY, SD (April 1, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks late season point streak came to an end on Wednesday night after the Mavs fell 4-1 to the Rapid City Rush on the road at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
The final contest of the season between the Mavericks and the Rush started with a battle between the opposing net minders as both Mike Clemente and Danny Battochio put out spectacular showings between the pipes to keep the score knotted at zero through the first half of the frame.
The Rush were first to strike at 12:17 when Winston Day Chief scored his thirteenth goal of the season with a lone assist from Patrick Cullen. Daniel Barczuk then doubled the Rapid City lead 2-0 at 16:43 with the aid of Scott Brannon.
Tyler Currier got the Mavs on the board on a Missouri man-advantage at 4:48 of the second period to extend his goal streak to four goals in four games. Geoff Walker and Jared Brown were credited with assists on Currier's seventh goal of the season.
Trailing 2-1, the Mavericks held a close contest with the Rush through a physical start to the third period. Kevin Harvey took a big step for the home team at 10:28 with Rapid City's third goal of the night, assisted by Patrick Cullen.
Barczuk sealed the Rush victory 4-1 with an empty-net goal in the final minutes of regulation, unassisted, marking his second goal of the night.
