Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks came out on top of their latest match-up with the Arizona Sundogs in a 2-1 regulation victory. The Mavericks have now taken the first three of only four games the teams will play against one another this season.

The night began with a scoreless first period. Though both teams had some solid opportunities, neither net minder would give up a tally in the first twenty minutes.

Arizona was first on the board, with a goal by Alex Tuckerman, assisted by Jason Morgan and Sebastian Geoffrion at the four minute mark. The Mavericks pelted the Arizona goal with shot attempts, but could not get a clear shot through the heavy traffic the Sundogs maintained in front of goaltender Chris Rawlings. Just when it was looking as if the Mavericks would begin the third period trailing the Sundogs, Mike Ramsay registered a goal to bring Missouri into the game. Eric Castonguay and Henrik Odegaard contributed assists on Ramsay's goal.

All tied up at 1-1, the two teams kept pace with one another through the first half of the final period, until Andrew Courtney pulled the Mavericks into the lead with a quick goal, assisted by Trevor Kell and Dave Pszenyczny. The Sundogs put up a tough fight through the remainder of the period, but came up short in forcing overtime.

Andrew Courtney's game-winning goal puts him up as the leading goal-scorer for the Mavericks with ten goals so far this season.

The Mavericks play their next game at home on Tuesday night, when they will play their fourth and final game of the regular season against the Arizona Sundogs. Puck drops at 7:05pm.

The Missouri Mavericks are excited to offer fans the new Mavericks Bud Light Good Times Seats. The promotion includes a center ice ticket, and vouchers for two FREE Bud Light drafts or fountain drink sodas. It's a $50 value for only $30! Bud Light Good Times Seats available for purchase at the Box Office day of game only.
