Frederick Keys News Release

On a frigid night in Wilmington, DE, Keys starter Brian Matusz worked through seven innings allowing four hits and no runs but got a no decision as the Keys could not get the big hit, falling to Wilmington, 1-0.

The game was tied into the eighth inning until Blue Rocks 3B Mike Moustakas doubled home the lone run of the game with two outs. The big hit was something Frederick searched for throughout the game.

Frederick went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. They had a runner in scoring position with less than two outs three times but failed to score.

Keys DH Bobby Stevens started a potential rally in the third inning with a leadoff double right over the bag at third base. He would be stranded at third base however as Frederick grounded out three times in succession following the double. Stevens finished the night 2-for-3.

It was the second time the Keys have been shutout by Danny Duffy who blanked Frederick on May 8th at Harry Grove Stadium in a 3-0 Wilmington win.

Kelvin Villa came in and got the win in three shutout innings from the pen.

The series continues Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. with Pedro Beato getting the wake-up call for the Keys. Coverage begins at 10:45 a.m. with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show on the Keys Baseball Network.

Frederick returns home Monday June 1st to take on the first place Lynchburg Hillcats at 7:00 p.m. to kick-off a seven-game homestand. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
