PawSox right hander Doug Mathis pitched 7 innings on Monday night, leading the club to a 4-0 win in Norfolk. Mathis (3-2) faced just 22 hitters, 1 over the minimum in his outing. The only Tides hitter to reach base was Ronnie Paulino. who tripled with two outs in the fifth inning. Oddly enough, Chris Robinson tripled in the eighth against reliever Will Inman. Garrett Mock pitched the ninth and preserved the shutout.
The PawSox scored all their runs in the top of the second inning, sending eight men to the plate. Pedro Ciriaco and Mauro Gomez each had two hits for the PawSox. The win snapped a 4 game losing streak for Pawtucket. Now 28-18, the Sox remain alone in first place in the North Division. The series and road trip wraps up on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. Tony Pena (0-3) faces Jason Berken (0-1).
