MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Victor Mateo (4-3) went seven strong innings while Luke Maile had the go-ahead single in the eighth in a 2-1 win for the Biscuits (18-13) over the Jacksonville Suns (14-17) Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Mateo allowed one run on five hits while matching a season-high with five strikeouts. The Suns have now struck out 18 times in 14 innings against Mateo this season while Mateo has only given up one run in the last 23 innings against Jacksonville dating back to last season. The only run the right-hander allowed was a solo home run by Ryan Fisher in the second inning.

In the eighth inning with the game tied at one, Alejandro Segovia ripped a triple off the wall in center. Segovia injured himself diving into third which caused Riccio Torrez to come into the game to pinch run. With the infield drawn in, Maile punched a soft groundball through the infield to score Torrez.

Anthony DeSclafani (3-4) picked up the loss despite throwing well and striking out a career-high ten. He walked in a run in the third inning which allowed the Biscuits to tie the game. DeSclafani has now throw 12 innings against the Biscuits, allowed three runs but has two losses.

Andrew Bellatti (3) worked a perfect eighth inning then finished the game by getting Wilfredo Gimenez to fly out with the tying run on second base in the ninth for his third save.

Game two of the series is Tuesday morning at 10:35. RH Dylan Floro will face-off with the Marlins' top prospect, LH Andrew Heaney.
