Cam Hobson Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. (MAY 5, 2014) - The Southern League announced today that Jackson Generals' LHP Cam Hobson has been named Southern League Pitcher of the Week for his performance April 29-May 4.

Hobson made two starts this past week going 1-0, with a 0.00 ERA having tossed 13 scoreless innings. He allowed just nine hits while walking two and striking out four this week. Hobson picked up the win last Monday during the season finale at Mobile firing six shutout innings and followed it up with seven shutout innings in a no decision on Saturday night against Pensacola.

Overall this season Hobson is 3-1, with a 2.52 ERA (10 ER/35.2 IP) over six starts, and has limited opponents to a .221 (29x131) average, including a .100 (2x20) clip vs. left-handed batters. Hobson has allowed runs in only one of the last 19 innings he has appeared over last 3 starts. Since April 23, he is 2-0 with a 1.43 ERA (3 ER, 18.1 IP), while walking 3 and striking out 6 in 3 starts.

A native of Crawfordsville, IL, Hobson was Seattle's 11th round draft selection in 2011 out of the University of Dayton.
