San Diego Wave FC News Release

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego Wave Fútbol Club (10-6-5, W-L-D) plays the final match of its inaugural regular season at Snapdragon Stadium against North Carolina Courage (9-8-4) this Friday, Sept. 30, at 7:00 p.m. PT. The match will be available for streaming on Paramount+ for domestic viewers and on Twitch for international viewers.

Last Sunday, San Diego Wave FC clinched a spot in the 2022 NWSL Playoffs and became the first expansion team in league history to achieve this feat in their inaugural season. Friday's result will decide Wave FC's placement in the seeding with a win ensuring a home playoff match. Four teams in the league have officially punched their tickets to the playoffs, leaving two spots remaining with four teams in contention.

"It's our last game of the regular season, so it's a big one for us, and we know that, but it's just another game that we have an opportunity to learn and grow as a team as we head into playoffs. Highest priority is getting three points. We know we can do that if we show up and play how we know how to play and trust in ourselves and each other."

Christen Westphal, San Diego Wave FC defender

The last matchup between Wave FC and NC Courage took place on May 22 in North Carolina, where San Diego grabbed three points in a 1-0 decision. The lone goal came from Alex Morgan, who buried a through ball from Taylor Kornieck.

After this Friday's contest, San Diego Wave FC awaits their postseason schedule in hopes to return home to Snapdragon Stadium one last time in their inaugural year. Stay up to date at sandiegowavefc.com.
