Courage Donate Jerseys to Osaka Play Academy Participants

September 29, 2022 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - North Carolina Courage News Release

Ahead of International Day of the Girl Child (October 11), Play Academy with Naomi Osaka brought together girls across its four funded programs in Tokyo to learn about the power of play and sport through indoor soccer. Athletes from semi-professional soccer club Yamato Sylphid led the activities, with Naomi Osaka joining and sharing the experience with the 21 girls.

Following the event, the girls were gifted with donated jerseys from the Carolina Courage, which Naomi Osaka is an owner of.

Play Academy is a partnership with Naomi Osaka, Nike and Laureus to change girls' lives through play and sport by providing grants and capacity-building training for community organizations; and by emphasizing fun, positive play experiences and coaches who are trained in gender-inclusivity, as well as inviting young women to become role models.
