Match Preview: Sacramento Republic FC vs LA Galaxy II

Sacramento Republic FC (2-3-1, 7 pts) travel down south to take on their rival, LA Galaxy II (4-0-4, 16 pts) on Saturday, May 7. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. PDT at the StubHub Track and Field Stadium. Republic FC will be holding official watch parties at de Vere's Irish Pub in downtown Sacramento and downtown Davis.

This will be the eleventh overall meeting between Republic FC and LA Galaxy II in the clubs' three year histories. Republic FC holds the advantage in the series compiling a 6-3-1 record against Galaxy II in USL regular season and playoff matches.

Republic FC enter the match after falling 1-0 to Orange County Blues FC on Saturday, Apr. 30. Republic FC now holds a USL record of 2-3-1, the same record through six matches as the club had in 2014, the year they won the USL Championship.

Midfielders Max Alvarez and Octavio Guzman both earned their first starts of the season last week against Orange County Blues FC. Alvarez and Guzman have both played well historically against Los Dos, with each scoring two goals against Galaxy II. Guzman recorded a brace against Los Dos on Mar. 28, 2015, in the first matchup between the two sides in the 2015 season.

Galaxy II comes into the match undefeated in the 2016 USL season and riding a two-match win streak. This will be the third match in eight days for Los Dos who defeated Rio Grande Valley FC 2-0 on Apr. 30 and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 3-2 on May 4.

Forward Jack McBean leads the USL with nine goals on the short season. In their current two-match win streak McBean has scored four goals, including a hat trick against Switchbacks FC on Wednesday. McBean has already surpassed his goal total from last season when he scored six goals.

This will be the second match at the StubHub Track and Field Stadium since it was renovated. The field was renovated to closer represent the field in the StubHub Center's Soccer Stadium. The Track and Field Stadium has also added a new Supporter Section behind the north end bleachers to accommodate supporters' groups. The newly renovated Track and Field Stadium was debuted on Wednesday, May 4 when Los Dos defeated Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

Republic FC will be hosting official watch parties at the de Vere's Irish Pub locations in downtown Sacramento and downtown Davis. The downtown Sacramento pub is located at 1521 L Street and the downtown Davis pub is located at 217 E Street. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for best seat selection.
