FC Montreal News Release
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - FC Montreal will face the Charlotte Independence Saturday night at 7pm EDT, at the Ramblewood Soccer Stadium.
It will be a fourth consecutive game on the road for the Bleu-blanc-noir. Last Sunday, the team lost 1-0 against Orlando City B.
"We had most of the possession and only allowed them a few shots", said midfielder Mastanabal Kacher. "But in the last third, we have to be better on the last pass. I think that, once we start scoring, we'll become more confident and it will be natural."
Despite this, FC Montreal lost three of its five games by only one goal, allowing eight goals in five games. But offensively, the team scored only two goals, from Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla and Charles Joly.
Charlotte, meanwhile, is in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 4-2-0 record. The Independence scored 11 goals, including seven first-half strikes, in six games, and allowed eight goals. The team won its last game 2-0 on the road against New York Red Bulls II, on goals from Patrick Slogic and Enzo Martinez. The latter is the best scorer on the team, with three goals this season.
"Charlotte is a really good team, and it's a fourth straight game on the road," said FC Montreal head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "If we are better technically in the last third, we'll be at the right level. We are convinced that we can get something out of this. This week, we focused on specific exercises to make sure that the last pass is perfect."
"It's always tough away, but it's doable," added Kacher. "Our goal is to get a win or at least a point. We talked about the last game with the coach, and we want to build on it. It has gone well this week. It's hard to start with five losses, but we know that we can do it."
Similar to every week, first-team players might be available for the game, depending on the playing time that they need.
The game will be available via streaming at www.montrealimpact.com.
After this game, FC Montreal will end its series of five road games against Bethlehem Steel FC at Goodman Stadium on Sunday, May 15, at 4pm EDT.
