CHARLESTON - The Charleston Battery signed Ecuadorian center forward Jose "Yepito" Nazareno on Friday afternoon after receiving clearance from the USL.

Per club policy, contract details remain private.

The 19-year old attacker made the trip with the team to Rochester and will be available for selection for the first time tonight.

Prior to joining the Battery, Nazareno played with Independiente del Valle's U20 team. Independiente is a professional club that competes Ecuadorian Serie A, the top-flight league in the country.

Nazareno has been in Charleston training with the team for about a month now. He will look forward to finally being able to make an impact on the field if and when he is given the chance. The youngster has a deft finishing touch between the penalty spot and the six yard box, giving him the potential to be a dangerous forward in this league.
