Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Sacramento Republic FC travel south to the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. where they take on LA Galaxy II on Saturday, March 28. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
The match is a rematch of the 2014 USL Semifinal match. Republic FC won the Semifinal match 3-2, led by a second half hat trick by midfielder Rodrigo Lopez. Republic FC holds a 3-1-1 record all-time against LA Galaxy II, including their Semifinal victory.
Republic FC enter the match after falling to Seattle Sounders FC 2 4-2 on March 21. Justin Braun and Octavio Guzman each scored second half goals for a Republic FC side that was plagued by injury. The match was just the third time in franchise history that Republic FC had lost a USL match by more than a goal; the other two being 0-2 road losses to Oklahoma City Energy FC in 2014.
Republic FC signed forwards David Estrada and Cameron Iwasa prior to their match against S2. Estrada started and played 84 minutes in his debut match with Republic FC and combined well with Republic FC midfielders and forwards setting up many good looks. Iwasa, a Sacramento native, made his professional debut coming on as a sub in the 72nd minute. Republic FC also released defender Bilal Duckett this week.
LA Galaxy II come into the match playing Real Monarch SLC to a scoreless draw in their first match of the 2015 USL season. Los Dos returns 11 players from their 2014 USL team, including Andre Auras, a USL All-League Second Team member, who had two goals and recorded five assists in the club's inaugural season.
Los Dos signed five players from their academy for the 2015 season including 16-year old Eric Lopez. The goalkeeper became the youngest player ever to sign a USL contract when he signed as a 15-year old on November 3, 2014.
The match will be the first of four matchups between the two sides this season. The match will be streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday. Updates of the match will also be provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC or using #LAvSAC.
