
OKC Energy FC Opens Season at Tulsa

OKLAHOMA CITY - OKC Energy FC opens its second USL season on Saturday, March 28 against in-state rival Tulsa. Start time is set for 7 p.m. CT at ONEOK Field in downtown Tulsa. The game will be streamed via YouTube Live. A link for that broadcast is available at EnergyFC.com. Saturday marks the first of four meetings between the Oklahoma teams this season.
Energy FC enters the contest following a successful preseason campaign that saw the team defeat Toronto FC 1-0 at the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic on February 18. Energy FC defeated Missouri Valley College 5-1 in its final preseason match on March 21. The Roughnecks enter the contest coming off a 1-0 preseason win over St. Louis FC on March 21.
A total of 22 players make up the available pool for Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen, including 11 midfielders, five defenders, three forwards and three goalkeepers. A total of 18 players may dress for Saturday night's contest.
The roster has seven players from overseas, including two from Denmark. Energy FC also has players from Cameroon, Hungary, Jamaica, South Africa and Wales. The 15 American-born players hail from all over the United States - three each from Kansas and California, two each from Oklahoma, Texas and Washington and one each from Maryland, Michigan and Virginia.
Five players on the roster have previous experience in Major League Soccer in team captain Michael Thomas, Christian Duke, Mikey Lopez, Evan Newton and Casey Townsend.
Following Saturday's contest, Energy FC returns to action on Saturday, April 4 in a 2 p.m. CT contest at the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
