MATCH Preview: Inter Miami CF to Close Out Week with Visit from St. Louis CITY SC

Inter Miami CF (10W-3L-4D, 34 points) will close out the week with the Club's first-ever home game against St. Louis CITY SC (3W-4L-7D, 16 points) this Saturday, June 1. The match at Chase Stadium is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Inter Miami CF Special Olympics Unified Team Recognition

Prior to kick off on Saturday, Inter Miami CF's 2024 Special Olympics Unified Team presented by Florida Blue will have a special recognition on the pitch to be introduced to fans at Chase Stadium.

In the spirit of our Club motto, Freedom to Dream, Inter Miami CF is honored to continue championing inclusivity and diversity through the IMCF Special Olympics Unified Team for its fourth consecutive year. Together with our Community Partner Florida Blue we aspire to create a world where every individual, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to shine brightly on the field of play. Launched in 2021, the Inter Miami CF Unified Team is made up of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and Unified partners, athletes without an IDD.

NW Club Party

The NW Club will be open postgame for all guests to enjoy. The 10,000 square foot hospitality space, which is located next to the team store by Gate 3, includes an air-conditioned enclosed first level, an outdoor terrace on the second level overlooking the field, and a third level open-air lounge.

The NW Club Party will feature a live DJ and food and drink specials.

All matches will feature both English and Spanish-language announcers, while matches involving Canadian teams will also offer commentary in French.

Previous Match

Inter Miami will look to bounce back quickly after a hardfought 1-3 loss to Atlanta United on Wednesday in midweek MLS regular season action. The team's goal on the night was scored by captain Lionel Messi. The goal was his 11th this MLS campaign to tie Suárez as the team's leading scorer this regular season, and his 13th goal across all competitions in 2024.

Inter Miami in 2024 MLS Regular Season

Inter Miami (10W-3L-4D) will host St. Louis CITY currently sitting first in the Supporters' Shield Standings with 34 points (one point ahead of second place) and leading the league in goals with a total 39 goals (eight more than the next team). Additionally, only LA Galaxy have scored more goals from counterattacks than Inter Miami (5).

Messi and striker Luis Suárez lead the team in goals this regular season with 11 and are tied for second amongst the league's top scorers. Additionally, Messi leads the team and the league in assists this regular season with 12.

Player Records and Milestones

Messi and Campana are the two active leading scorers in Club history, with Campana having 27 across all competitions (24 in MLS) and Messi 24 (12 in MLS). They trail Gonzalo Higuaín who scored 29 times for Inter Miami (all in MLS). Messi (14 in MLS) and Taylor (13 in MLS) , meanwhile, lead the team with the most assists in Club history with 19 across all competitions each.

Goalkeeper Drake Callender and Taylor are tied as the players with most appearances in Club history with 93 across all competitions. In terms of MLS appearances, Taylor is first with 75 (one in playoffs), while former Inter Miami midfielder Victor Ulloa and Callender are second with 74 (one in playoffs each). With his appearance against Atlanta on Wednesday, Taylor became the player with most MLS appearances in Club history.

Previously Against St. Louis City SC

Saturday's matchup will be the second between the sides in Club history and will mark the first time St. Louis CITY SC's first visit to Chase Stadium

Familiar Faces

The match may present reunions for members of both teams. Former Inter Miami midfielder may return to South Florida with his new team after his spells at the Club in 2021 and 2022.

Additionally, Messi, Suárez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets may face goalkeeper Roman Bürki after previously facinig him in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League group stage with FC Barcelona while he was a Borussiia Dortmund player.

Scouting St. Louis CITY SC

The Missouri-based side will visit South Florida after most recently falling 1-2 at home against the Seattle Sounders last Saturday and currently winless in their past three games. Additionally, St. Louis CITY will visit Chase Stadium winless on the road this regular season, with a record of five losses and two draws playing away from home this season. Overall, St. Louis has recorded three wins, four losses and seven draws for a total 16 points and sits 11th in the Western Conference standings.
