New England Revolution News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The New England Revolution (2-10-1; 7 pts.) are on the road on Saturday night for a visit to Nashville SC (4-4-7; 19 pts.) at GEODIS Park. Saturday's match kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET and airs on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app in English and Spanish . Listen on the radio via 98.5 The Sports Hub (WBZ-FM), with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies on the call. Portuguese commentary is available on 1260 AM "Nossa Radio USA".
New England heads into the away contest on the back of a 1-0 loss to New York City FC last weekend. Despite being unable to find the breakthrough goal, New England stymied the NYCFC attack and posted advantages in shot attempts, shots on target, and possession in a tightly contested match. Midfielder Carles Gil was in his typically elite form, generating a season-high eight chances created, his most in a match since 2021. The three-time MLS All-Star enters Matchday 18 with 47 key passes this season, the second-highest total in MLS.
The Revolution own a 1-2-3 record in six meetings with Nashville, a 2020 MLS expansion side. New England split the season series with Nashville last season, with each side collecting a victory on its home field. Nashville has collected points in eight of its nine home games this season, carrying a 3-1-5 record at GEODIS Park. Nashville is coming off an impressive midweek victory, a 2-0 triumph on the road at FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night.
Saturday's match will feature two of the league's last three MVP award winners in Gil (2021) and Nashville's Hany Mukhtar (2022). Mukhtar owns three goals and six assists this season, while English striker Sam Surridge leads the attack with six tallies. Veteran forward Teal Bunbury , who ranks fourth on the Revolution's all-time scoring chart with 45 goals, has tallied three goals through 10 games played in his third season with Nashville.
In the Revolution's last outing, forward Giacomo Vrioni was the top beneficiary of Gil's chance creation, with the Albanian striker leading New England with a game-high five shots. Esmir Bajraktarević , who replaced an injured Tomas Chancalay after 10 minutes, registered four shot attempts in the match, with two on frame. After this weekend's match in Nashville, Bajraktarević will depart to join the U.S. Men's Olympic Team for its final pre-Olympic camp. Forward Dylan Borrero continues to add a fresh, dynamic element to the attack as he suited up for his second consecutive start and fifth straight appearance since returning from a year-long injury absence. The 22-year-old Colombian played a season-high 79 minutes last weekend in his 25 th MLS appearance.
On the defensive end, outside back DeJuan Jones featured in the Starting XI for the first time since returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined the 26-year-old American for four games. Jones went the full 90 minutes at left back in last weekend's contest. Centrally, Head Coach Caleb Porter will have to adjust for the absence of center back Henry Kessler , who will miss Saturday's match in Nashville due to yellow card accumulation. Kessler had started the last 12 league games, though the Revolution boast a deep arsenal of central defenders including MLS veterans Dave Romney , who featured for Nashville SC from 2020-22, Andrew Farrell , and Jonathan Mensah . Meanwhile, newcomer Xavier Arreaga is eying his sixth consecutive start since joining the club from Seattle in late April.
