Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United returns to action Tuesday night against Philadelphia Union in the second leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals. The match is set to kick-off at 8 p.m. ET from Subaru Park and will be nationally broadcast on FS1 and TUDN in the United States. Atlanta trails 3-0 after the first leg on April 27 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta owns an all-time record of 6-4-1 in SCCL play; 5-1-0 at home or neutral venues and 1-3-1 on the road.
Atlanta is the only club to have reached the quarterfinals of the tournament each of the past three seasons. Atlanta's three consecutive appearances in the tournament is tied for the third-longest run for MLS clubs since 2008-09, trailing Toronto FC and LA Galaxy (four).
Atlanta is 4-2-2 all-time against Philadelphia in all competitions, including six MLS regular season meetings, a 2-0 victory in the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs and last Tuesday's 3-0 defeat in the first leg.
Since 2000, three teams have overcome a three-goal deficit after the first leg to advance in CCL: Club América in 2015, Chicago Fire in 2004 and Toluca in 2003. Atlanta has scored three or more goals in 38 matches in all competitions in club history.
Josef Martinez leads the team with seven career goals against Philadelphia, tied for the most goals he has scored against any opponent with Orlando. Martinez leads Atlanta with five career SCCL goals and ranks second with two assists.
Santiago Sosa has completed 150 passes in SCCL, which leads all players heading into the second legs of the quarterfinals, according to Concacaf's website. Sosa's 104 touches in the first leg also led all players across the quarterfinal stage's first legs.
