Atlanta United is unbeaten in its last 15 matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium across all competitions, with its last lost coming on June 20, 2018. Atlanta is 1-1-0 all-time against FC Dallas, with each club winning on its home field. Atlanta won the first meeting between the teams, a 3-0 victory on Sept. 10, 2017, in the first match played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. FC Dallas claimed a 3-2 victory last July 4 at Toyota Stadium. Forward Josef Martinez leads Atlanta with three career goals versus FC Dallas.
Atlanta won its first league match of the season April 13 in a 2-0 win over New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Ezequiel Barco scored two goals after coming on as a substitute in the 15th minute with Tito Villalba recording both assists. It was the first multi-goal game of the 20-year-old's MLS career and the performance earned him MLS Player of the Week honors. Barco leads the team with three goals in league play.
FC Dallas defeated Portland Timbers 2-0 at home on April 13 to improve to 4-2-1 on the season. Defender Reto Ziegler leads the team in scoring with three goals, two of which have come from the penalty spot. Three other players have scored multiple goals for FC Dallas this year in Paxton Pomykal, Michael Barrios and Jesus Ferreira. FC Dallas is 1-2-0 on the road this season.
