May 30, 2005 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release

Citibank Ballpark, Midland, TX – Frisco RHP Nick Masset (2-6) tossed eight effective innings and the RoughRiders (20-30) used a five-run fourth-inning rally to send the Arkansas Travelers (26-24) to a 6-2 defeat. After getting knocked out in the fourth inning last week in Little Rock, Masset held the Travs to eight hits, two runs (one earned) with one walk and six strikeouts. For the second game in a row, the fourth inning proved to be decisive in a Travs loss. Sunday afternoon Midland scored five times in the fourth, and Frisco scored five runs in the fourth inning on four hits, a walk and an error. Arkansas LHP Daniel Davidson (5-2) took the loss by allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits, three walks, four strikeouts and a wild pitch in 5.2 innings. Travs C Mike Napoli extended a hitting streak to eight games with two hits, while LF David Gates had a triple to push his hitting streak to 12 games. The loss is the Travs fourth in five games after winning four in a row.

Leading off the second inning, Napoli singled up the middle and advanced to second base when Greg Porter singled. A one-out single to center by Mike Eylward brought Napoli home for a 1-0 Travs lead.

With one out in the bottom of the second inning, Frisco RF Juan Senreiso struck out but reached first base on a wild pitch. A tapper in front of the mound send Senreiso to second base, and a single by Jeremy Cleveland scored him to tie the game at 1-1.

Davidson walked Jason Hart to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Hart scored when Seth Taylor lined a double to the left-field corner, then Taylor took third base on the throw home and scored on a sacrifice fly by Senreiso for a 3-1 Frisco lead. Joaquin Arias followed with a groundball single to left field. Then with two outs, Jared Abruzzo bounced to Porter at third base. Porter overthrew third base putting runners at second and third. Cameron Coughlin then blooped a single to right field bringing both runners home. Coughlin went to second base on the throw home and scored when Ruddy Yan singled to left field to cap the inning.

The Travs managed just one hit after the fifth inning as Napoli doubled to start the sixth inning. He scored when David Gates's fielder's choice was thrown away for an error.

Time of game was 2:45 and the paid attendance was 8,229.

The Travs and Riders are set for a doubleheader on Tuesday to make up for last Tuesday's rainout in Little Rock. In game one, the Travs have RHP Steven Shell (1-4, 5.71 ERA) pitching against Frisco's RHP Josh Rupe (4-2, 3.30 ERA). Game two features Arkansas RHP Kasey Olenberger (1-2, 3.62 ERA) against Frisco RHP Shane Bazzell (0-1, 3.52 ERA). The first game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
