Corpus Christi Hooks News Release


CORPUS CHRISTI – The Corpus Christi Hooks return from a seven-game road trip to take on the Wichita Wranglers (Kansas City Royals AA) and the Tulsa Drillers (Colorado Rockies AA). This will be the first visit to Whataburger Field for both teams. Here are some of the homestand highlights:

Monday (5/30) vs. Wichita (7:05 pm) – Memorial Day celebration, featuring $1 hot dogs and soda all night.

Tuesday (5/31) vs. Wichita (7:05 pm) – ½ Price Group Night! Bring out any group of 20 or more (school group, church group, sports team, etc.) and get tickets for ½ price. Call the Hooks group information department for more info 561-4665. Following the game will be the 2nd Grande Grand Prize Game! Try your skill at throwing a baseball into a target in the middle of the field; you could win as much as $1,000!

Wednesday (6/1) vs. Wichita (7:05) – Whataburger Family Day! Bring a receipt from Whataburger and get ½ price admission. Before the game students from all over Corpus Christi will take part in the 2nd Get Hooked On Reading Parade. Throwing out one of the ceremonial first pitches on Wednesday will be world renowned artist Jesus Bautista Morales.

Thursday (6/2) vs. Wichita (7:05) – "Thirsty Thursday" ½ price beer and soda presented by Circle K and CITGO! Two lucky fans will also have a chance to win two (2) free round-trip tickets anywhere Southwest Airlines flies. Bring a receipt from Circle K to any Thursday Hooks game and get $1 off the price of admission.

Friday (6/3) vs. Tulsa (7:05) – "Fireworks Friday" – come enjoy the awesome post-game fireworks show presented by Bud Light. Throwing out one of the ceremonial first pitches on Friday will be world renowned surf legend Robert August. August will be in Corpus Christi this weekend for the grand opening of the Texas Surf Museum.

Saturday (6/4) vs. Tulsa (7:05) – "Used Boat Night" presented by Gulf Coast Marine. The first 2,500 fans will receive Hooks Burgees (mini flags), and five boats will be given away during the game. Sunday (6/5) vs. Tulsa (7:05) – "H.E.B. Kid's Day" with free activities and fun before the game, and kids run the bases after the game. Also, the first 1,500 kids 12 & under to Sunday's game will receive a Hooks wiffle ball and bat set courtesy of Coca Cola.

LET"S EAT – Hooks season ticket holders, don't forget to stop by the Cotton Club before any Hooks game for a great eats and drinks. Sit back each night and enjoy a delicious buffet from Waterstreet Restaurants, while you sip on a cool drink and watch sports on one of the 42" plasma TV's.

HOOKS BASEBALL SCHOOL – There's still time to enter your little slugger into the 2005 Hooks Baseball School. The Hooks and several local collegiate and high school baseball coaches have teamed up to bring youngsters from all over South Texas the opportunity to hone their skills. The 2005 Hooks Baseball School will offer multiple camps for beginner through advanced skill levels. All campers are given individual, "hands-on" instruction in the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, as well as a positive mental approach to the game. HAVING FUN, while learning & improving, is the camp's goal. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt, camp picture and meet-n-greet session w/ current Corpus Christi Hooks players. Each camp is for four (4) days, Monday through Thursday, starting daily at 9:00 am. The camps will be limited to a maximum of 120 campers per week. Camps end daily at 12:00 pm. Campers are responsible for bringing Little League or turf shoes, baseball glove, baseball pants and cap (balls provided; bats are optional). Parents (and cameras) are welcome at all times.
