August 3, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Just days after Bryan Adams and Def Leppard rocked the night away at John O'Donnell Stadium, the Swing of the Quad Cities made another major announcement for Quad Cities music lovers. A band has been assembled featuring a number of the Swing's most endearing mascots, and they will bring the house down with a show on the Party Deck before the Swing game on Wednesday, August 3.
The debut performance of Banana Man and the Benchwarmers will feature front man Banana Man as the lead vocalist, beloved Clyde the Orangutan playing the bass guitar, the mysterious Mr. Slice on the drums, and an unidentified Swing player as the lead guitarist.
As always Wednesday night will be a Beverage Night at John O'Donnell Stadium, with drink specials lasting until 8:30 p.m. and live music on the Party Deck prior to the game. While there will be two more Beverage Nights in the 2005 season, Wednesday night's will be the final one featuring pre-game music.
"I'm excited to finally get the chance to show Swing fans another part of my personality," confided Banana Man, whose hard work and persistence brought together the band for this fantastic event. "Everybody already knows how much I love baseball, but now I can show a more creative side of myself, all the while protecting the right of our fans to life, liberty, and affordable family entertainment."
Wednesday night's game will be played against the Clinton LumberKings, and first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The gates will open at 6:00 p.m., when the drink specials begin and Banana Man and the Benchwarmers take the stage.
UP NEXT: The Swing and LumberKings continue the series on Wednesday, as Quad Cities sends Tyler Adamczyk (3-3, 8.25) to the mound against Kyle Rogers (5-8, 6.48). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00, and pregame coverage on Progressive Talk AM 1270 will begin at 6:45.
UPCOMING HOMESTAND: Wednesday night will be a Hooters/97 Rock Beverage Night, featuring discounted drinks until 8:30 and the live, debut performance of Banana Man and the Benchwarmers. In addition, it will be AWFUL NIGHT, with appropriately-themed performances and giveaways throughout the night. Finally, it will be Trinity Medical Center Employee Night at John O'Donnell Stadium. Tickets are available for all Swing games by calling (563) 328-2000.
