Rockland County, NY - Gian Martellini knocked in five runs and the New York Boulders plated seven first inning runs on their way to a 12-5 win over Quebec in Frontier League action on Tuesday night at Palisades Credit Union Park.

Martellini capped off the seven-run first inning with a grand slam, his third home run of the season and second grand slam of the year. Earlier in the frame, Tucker Nathans had a two-run single and Ryan Ramiz an RBI single, one of three hits on the evening for Ramiz.

The seven-run first inning brought an end to Quebec starter Miguel Cienfuegos' night.

Quebec had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Jesse Hodges. However, Boulders starter Orsen Josephina escaped the first inning without further damage by inducing a groundout from Ruben Castro.

A Ramiz run-scoring double in the second made it 8-1 before David Glaude hit a solo home run for Quebec, his fifth of the season, in the fifth. The Boulders answered with an RBI single from Martellini in the bottom of the fifth that made it 9-2.

Quebec got two back in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Connor Panas and a run-scoring single from Castro.

New York answered with three runs in their half of the seventh with a solo home run by Ray Hernandez and RBI singles from Jack Sundberg and Zach Kirtley that gave the Boulders a 12-4 lead. The home run was Hernandez' seventh of the season.

In the eighth inning, Quebec's Elliott Curtis hit a solo home run, his second of the season.

Josephina got the win for New York in his first decision of the season, while the loss dropped Cienfuegos to 3-2 on the year.
