Morehead City Marlins News Release

Morehead City, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins started right where they left off on Monday night, defeating the Columbia Blowfish at Big Rock Stadium again on Tuesday, 13-4. The Marlins bats stayed hot, as Morehead City batted around the full lineup on two separate occasions in both the third and fifth innings.

Every hitter in the Marlins lineup reached base at least once in the game, and all but one starter came around the base paths to score one run or more. Eight Morehead City starters also drove in at least one of the team's 13 runs, and everyone in the lineup recorded one or more of the Marlins' 17 hits with the exception of two.

Six Marlins smacked multiple hits for the game, including leadoff man Jake Luce (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), first baseman Chase McDonald (3-for-5, HR, 3 RBIs), Corey Thompson (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), and the pleasantly surprising Drew Woodall, who went 3-for-4 at the plate in his Big Rock Stadium debut, racking up 2 RBIs and playing stellar defense behind the dish.

The Marlins will host an exhibition contest with the Heroes of the Diamond on Wednesday, a team of service members within the United States Armed Forces. Then, Morehead City travels down the coast to Buck Hardee Field in Wilmington to take on the Sharks on Thursday.

The Marlins return to Big Rock Stadium on Friday, as they will compete with the Fayetteville SwampDogs in a doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games. The doubleheader will serve as the vehicle for the Marlins' Pink Jersey Auction, which will benefit the construction of the planned Crystal Coast Cancer Center to be erected in Morehead City in the near future. The games will begin at 6:05 p.m., with gate opening at 5 o'clock.
