Marlies Fall to Penguins 4-3 in a Shootout

The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, defeated the Toronto Marlies by a score of 4-3 in a shootout this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.

Wilkes-Barre notched the only goal of the opening period when Scott Harrington scored at 17:59. Kenny Ryan tied the game at one, scoring his fourth goal of the season with the Marlies shorthanded at 3:16 of the middle frame. The Penguins regained the lead before the end of the period when Anton Zlobin tallied with just over one minute remaining. Spencer Abbott and Trevor Smith would give Toronto a 3-2 lead late in the third period before Nick Drazenovic notched the tying goal with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, Drazenovic would score the game winning goal in the shootout to give Wilkes-Barre their second consecutive victory.

The Marlies return to the ice on Friday, March 14 when they travel to New York for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. Toronto returns home on Sunday, March 16 to host the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825) or by visiting marlies.ca.
