Marlies Break Franchise Attendance Record

The Toronto Marlies played their 27th home game of the season in front of a franchise record crowd on Sunday, February 24 against their Q.E.W. and division rival, Hamilton Bulldogs - AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens - at Ricoh Coliseum.

The sellout is the Marlies third in their franchise's history and second of the season. Today's attendance was 8,120, topping the previous record of 8,056, which was set in the Marlies inaugural game on October 12, 2005 at Ricoh Coliseum.

This season the Marlies have played nine games with more than 5,000 fans in attendance. The Marlies currently rank 16th out of 29 teams in the AHL with an average of 4,352 fans per home game.

The Marlies travel to Syracuse on Friday night to take on the Crunch - AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets - with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Marlies return

to Ricoh Coliseum for a pair of games next weekend. The Marlies host the Iowa Stars - AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars - on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. and the Hershey Bears
