
Mariners Purchase Contract of T-Bones Lefty Joe Filomeno

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones announced today the Seattle Mariners have purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Joe Filomeno. He is the third T-Bone player in just the month of July to be sold to an MLB organization.
In 2018, Filomeno was a strong bullpen force for Kansas City, pitching 18.2 innings in 16 games for the T-Bones with a 3-1 record, a 1.44 ERA and 26 strikeouts. He had not allowed a run in four straight innings and four straight appearances.
Filomeno came to Kansas City after being released by the Frisco RoughRiders. He went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in seven innings with the AA Texas League team. He spent 2017 with the same ball club posting an 0-3 record with an 8.10 ERA in 29 games. In 2016, he played 30 games for the RoughRiders with a 2.20 ERA in 41 innings.
Filomeno started 2016 with the A-Advanced High Desert Mavericks. While there he boasted a 0.57 ERA and a 1-0 record in 11 games. He played all of the 2015 season with the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League. He finished his time in Hickory with a 3-2 record while producing a 2.72 ERA in 56 ?..." innings played.
Filomeno was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2014 MLB draft. He played his rookie ball with the AZL Rangers going 2-0 in nine innings.
Filomeno is the 35th Kansas City player, and the fifth this season, to have his contract purchased while with the T-Bones. In May, the Washington Nationals purchased the contract of outfielder Adam Brett Walker and the New York Mets purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Cody Martin. On July 3, the Cubs purchased the contract of left-handed T-Bones pitcher James Buckelew, and on July 7 the Cincinnati Reds purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Carlos Diaz.
The T-Bones are second in the American Association with a .647 winning percentage and a 33-18 record. Kansas City has won seven of their last ten games and are looking for to bounce back against the St. Paul Saints tonight at 7:05.
