Marceaux Great But Eugene Walks Off
May 27, 2022 - Northwest League (NWL)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
Starter Landon Marceaux pitched six strong innings for the Tri-City Dust Devils (19-20) Thursday night, but Eugene Emeralds (19-18) catcher Patrick Bailey smacked a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the 9th, giving the Ems a 4-1 win at PK Park.
Bailey, who was 0-3 with three strikeouts coming into his 9th inning at-bat, got a hold of a Dakota Donovan (2-1) pitch, sending it over the center field fence for his fourth home run of the season. The homer also gave the win to Eugene reliever Mat Olsen (1-0), who went three innings and struck out nine Tri-City batters.
Marceaux gave up one run on four hits, in his longest outing as a professional. He walked one and struck out eight, holding the Emeralds' bats at bay for most of the night. Glenn Albanese followed Marceaux with two scoreless frames.
Tri-City scored its lone run in the 6th inning, with Osmy Gregorio tripling to right to lead the inning off. The first pitch to the next batter, Gabe Matthews, went through the wickets of Bailey, and Gregorio sprinted home to tie the game.
Eugene otherwise held the Dust Devils in check, with Gregorio's triple and a 3rd inning Christian Molfetta single the only two hits of the night for Tri-City.
Tri-City and Eugene get back to it at 7:35 p.m. Friday night at PK Park, in game four of the six-game series. Righty Robinson Piña gets the start for the Dust Devils, with right-hander Jake Wong going for Eugene.
You can listen to the game at both dustdevilsbaseball.com and the MiLB First Pitch app, with the King Beverage Budweiser Pregame Show starting at 7:20 p.m.
