Bradenton Marauders News Release

BRADENTON, FL - The Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, endured a track meet Friday, beating the Fort Myers Miracle 12-10 at McKechnie Field.

Things started out grim with the Miracle going ahead 6-0 in the first two innings, but Bradenton chipped away in the second, dropping a seven spot on Miracle starter Logan Darnell. All seven runs came with two outs. Kelson Brown began the rally with a double to score a run. David Rubinstein then walked ahead of a Robbie Grossman two-run doubled and two run triple by Adalberto Santos. Ramon Cabrera also delivered and RBI single, as did Elevys Gonzalez for a 7-6 lead.

It grew to 8-6 when Cole White led off with a solo homerun in the third. But the lead was short lived with Aaron Hicks hitting a Miracle homerun in the fourth to tie the game at eight. Hicks was a triple shy of the cycle through just four innings.

Bradenton jumped back in front in the race with an Elevys Gonzalez two-run blast in the fourth for a 10-8 lead. The advantage grew to 12-8 in the fifth on another Santos hit, this time a double to score two.

The Miracle pulled back within two in the seventh with a sacrifice fly and double by Dan Rohlfing and Steven Liddle. It became interesting in the ninth when the Miracle put two runners into scoring position against Marauders closer Duke Welker, but to no avail.

The win went to Jhonathan Ramos, who survived five innings, allowing eight runs. He improves to 4-0 in five starts. The loss is Darnell's third. The save is Welker's fifth. Offensively Gonzalez shined with four hits.

The sweep for Bradenton gives the Marauders a two game lead on second place Charlotte. Bradenton welcomes the Jupiter Hammerheads to town Saturday at 7pm. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 on the Sports Fanatic, 1280-AM WTMY. For ticketing information visit BradentonMarauders.com.
