Miracle swept in Bradenton after 12-10 barn burner

BRADENTON, FL (August 5th, 2011) - The Bradenton Marauders outlasted the Fort Myers Miracle, 12-10, in a slugfest that featured a combined 22 runs, 32 hits, and 13 extra base hits at McKechnie Field on Friday night.

Fort Myers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and a half, posting three runs in the first and second. The Miracle received RBI hits from Aaron Hicks and Dan Rohlfing as well as a sacrifice fly off the bat of Angel Morales in the first inning.

Hicks picked up another RBI on a double in the second inning. The Long Beach, Calif. native went 3-for-5 with four driven in, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

The Marauders erased the deficit and took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with seven hits and seven runs off Miracle starter Logan Darnell. Bradenton sent 12 hitters to the plate with Robbie Grossman delivering a two-run double.

Bradenton out scored the Miracle 5-4 over the final seven innings to come out on top with a two-run victory and complete the series sweep.

Darnell (8-3) lasted four innings, giving up nine earned runs on 12 hits including a pair of homeruns. Marauders starter Jhonathan Ramos (4-3) didn't fare much better. In five innings, Ramos allowed eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits. Closer Duke Welker earned his fifth save by striking out Oswaldo Arcia with two runners in scoring position.
