Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON)- The Peterborough Petes and the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland & Haliburton are excited to announce further details surrounding the Faceoff Against Dementia event. The event will take place in conjunction with the game between the Peterborough Petes and Oshawa Generals on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 7:05pm.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Johnny Bower, will be participating in the ceremonial puck drop before the game. Additionally, he will be signing autographs during a North Lobby meet and greet in the first intermission, and will be drawing names for the raffle on the ice in the second intermission. There will also be several NHL trophies on display in the North Lobby that fans are encouraged to visit.
The raffle prizes include two tickets to a Leafs game with limo transportation and a Jonathan Bernier signed jersey, a signed Steven Stamkos jersey, and a Murray Henderson original painting featuring the Petes and Generals. Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased in the East Lobby during the game.
Fans can participate in a fundraising chuck-a-puck, with prizes including two leafs tickets and limo transportation to the game on February 17. There will also be a silent auction in support of the Alzheimer Association, featuring items such as NHL authenticated jerseys, Tree Top Trekker coupons, Canadian Hockey Enterprise Hockey School vouchers and more. Firefighters and Police Auxiliary from our community will be on hand accepting donations at Alzheimer Society information booths.
"This is the first, but definitely not the last, Faceoff Against Dementia between these two amazing teams," stated Susan Dunkley, Fund Development Coordinator. "We are delighted with the response of the community with our first annual hockey game and are thrilled with the support of both the Peterborough Petes and the Oshawa Generals."
Tickets are selling out quickly for the rivalry game between the Petes and the CHL's top-ranked Generals. Fans are encouraged to use promotional code "ALZ" at the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office or online to save $4. The Petes will donate an additional $4 to the Alzheimer Society for every "ALZ" ticket sold.
