Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs won their third straight game, beating the Barrie Colts 5-2 in Barrie Thursday night.

The Colts got on the board just 1:32 into the first period, when Justin Scott beat IceDogs goaltender Brandon Hope. Joseph Blandisi scored at 14:03 to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.

The IceDogs battled back and in his first game since returning from the World Junior Championships, IceDogs forward Mikkel Aagaard made it a one-goal game with his sixth goal of the season. Rookie Christopher Paquette tied it up less than five minutes later when his shot from the slot beat Colts goalie Mackenzie Blackwood.

Jordan Maletta scored on a breakaway 4:47 into the third period to give the IceDogs their first lead of the game. Billy Jenkins added a power play tally, his fifth goal of the season, with less than three minutes remaining to make it 4-2 for the IceDogs. Maletta added an empty netter for good measure.

The win was IceDogs head coach Marty Williamson's 400th career regular season win behind an OHL bench.

The IceDogs are back at it tomorrow night in Sudbury as they take on the Wolves.
