Evansville Otters News Release

Jason Mann went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs and two RBI and Cody Blackard went 7.2 innings to lead the Evansville Otters to a 9-4 victory over the Ohio Valley Redcoats.

The Otters got on the board first in the fourth inning as they pulled together a two-out rally. With the bases empty, Trask Munoz singled, followed by a single by Steve Martin. Jason Mann made sure the Childs would not escape the inning unscathed as the doubled on a ball that kept tailing away from leftfielder Bobby Gilliam, scoring both Munoz and Martin to make it 2-0 Evansville.

Another two out rally boosted the Otters in the fifth. With Frank Scott on second following a groundout, Jeff Goldbach singled home Scott to make it 3-0. After a Beau Blacken single moved Goldbach to third, Munoz sent him home with another single giving the Otters a 4-0 lead.

Evansville would plate single runs in each of the next three innings. Ohio Valley would make a game of it with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. Things got very dicey in the eighth when with a run across and a 7-4 Otters lead, the Redcoats loaded the bases. After a nine pitch at-bat to David Munoz, Ryan Burnau got Munoz to pop out to Denver Stuckey in foul territory to end the inning. The Otters tacked on two more runs in the ninth make it 9-4.

Cody Blackard (4-1) got the win for Evansville with Ryan Burnau picking up his third save.

The series wraps up tomorrow with Brian Kroll (2-4) going for Evansville with Kevin Joslyn (1-0) going for Ohio Valley. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 91.5, WUEV.
