Rockford RiverHawks News Release

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Even Aaron McEachran's record-tying night couldn't overcome the Rockford RiverHawks' early seven-run deficit.

The Mid-Missouri Mavericks scored seven times in the second inning to break a tie game and held on to beat the RiverHawks, 15-11, at Marinelli Field.

McEachran was 5-for-6 and tied the team's single-game hits record. The veteran first baseman homered, doubled three times and drove in six runs. Bobby Matthews (2003), Shaff Elkouri (2004) and Olmo Rosario (2005) are the other RiverHawks that have had five-hit games.

Thomari Story-Harden hit his 13th home run, a three-run shot to left in the top of the first, but the RiverHawks rallied for three in the bottom of the inning. The Mavs sent 10 to the plate in the second. Alex Derhak broke a 3-3 tie with a RBI single and began a string of five straight two-out RBI hits capped by a two-run homer from Greg Buscher. Buscher's sixth home run drove Rockford starter Justin Olson (5-4) from the game.

Steve Sosa (5-5) gave up five runs on eight hits and went the minimum of five innings for the win. The ‘Hawks rallied for four runs, three on McEachran's homer, off J.P. Glasscock in the ninth.

The RiverHawks attempt to avoid a sweep of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. It's the weekly 2-for-Tuesday, when hot dogs and soda are all priced at two for $2. It's also ‘70s Night. Fans who wear ‘70s apparel get $2 off a general-admission ticket.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
