Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth will begin defense of its National Lacrosse League championship on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Pepsi Center when the 2007 NLL season opens with a marquee matchup between the Mammoth and Rochester Knighthawks.
"We'll celebrate last season's accomplishments then kick off the new year with a great game against a great team," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "We're excited to once again host the first game of the NLL season and we look forward to starting things off in style."
After a visit to Arizona in Week 2 the Mammoth hosts a rematch of the 2006 NLL championship game when the Buffalo Bandits visit Pepsi Center. Other highlights of the schedule include a trip to Buffalo in late March, two home games against West Division foe Portland, renewals of the rivalry with Calgary on Jan. 20 and Feb. 18, and a home-and-home series against San Jose on the season's final weekend.
The 2007 NLL All-Star Game at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore., will be played on Saturday, March 10 at 8 p.m. Mountain time.
The NLL regular-season schedule consists of 104 games, to be played over 16 weekends. Each of the league's 13 teams will play 16 regular-season games, eight home and eight away. The regular season concludes on Saturday, April 14, with the Champion's Cup Playoffs beginning the next weekend.
The Mammoth won its first NLL championship last season after qualifying for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. The team led the league in attendance, averaging 16,543 fans per home game.
