Mammoth Edge Roughnecks 13-12

Calgary, AB - The Colorado Mammoth edged the Calgary Roughnecks 13-12 Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome on a Gavin Prout power play goal less than one minute into overtime. The Roughnecks now sit second in the West Division with a record of 2-1.

Calgary forward Daryl Veltman led the Roughnecks with six points (3g, 3a) while Shawn Evans, Scott Ranger and Curtis Manning each scored two. Kaleb Toth, Curtis Dickson and Peter McFetridge also scored in the loss.

John Grant Jr., with a ten point night (4g, 6a), was the top scorer for the visitors. It was a memorable game for the Mammoth forward who recorded his 1,000th career point on an assist in the first quarter.

Mike Poulin made 36 saves for the Roughnecks net as Calgary outshot Colorado 56-49. Geoff Snider won 25 of 26 face-offs and led the team with 13 loose balls.

The Roughnecks return to action on Saturday, January 28 when they host the Toronto Rock at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
