June 7, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (6-3) head to Wausau today to finish a two-game set with the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and the Mallards will be looking for their fifth straight victory. The Mallards have been strong in all aspects of the game recently, outscoring opponents 23-10 over their four-game win streak. Madison has been powered by crucial knocks in key situations as they lead the South Division in extra base hits (21) and the entire league in home runs (5).
Probable Pitcher
Scheduled to start for the Mallards tonight is St. Cloud State righty Ricardo Garcia. Garcia will be making his second start of the season after working 4.0 innings in his first outing. Garcia allowed two runs on five hits in his start in Green Bay and the Mallards went on to win the ballgame, 5-3.
Players to Watch
Mallards designated hitter Tyler Plantier (Richmond) continues to lead the Mallards in hitting, now holding a .400 clip at the dish. Plantier added a knock last night and has still hit safely in every game this summer.
Madison utility man Jake Randa (NW Florida State) is the second of three Mallards to record a hit in every game this season. Randa provided two hits in last night's win and has knocked in three runs in back-to-back ballgames.
Finally, Mallards first baseman David Vinksy (Northwood) had a single and scored a run last night, continuing his season-long hitting streak.
