EAU CLAIR, WI - The Bismarck Larks traveled to Eau Clair to take on the Express in game one of a four game series and fell by a score of 4-1. Kip DeShields started on the mound for the Larks and allowed four earned runs in five innings of work.

The Larks struggled at the plate continued Wednesday at Carson Park with Justin Slaten on the mound for the Express. Topping out at 93mph for Eau Claire, Slaten continued his dominance from his first start of the summer into the game against the Larks. He finished with 13 strikeouts, allowing just one hit in eight innings of work.

The first hit of the game for Bismarck came off of the bat of newcomer Christian Montez in the top of the fifth inning. Montez would later steal a base before being stranded at second base.

The Larks would start a rally in the top of the ninth inning, getting three runners on base and scoring their only run of the game when Matt Warkentin scored on a double off of the bat of Kyle Stevens. The game would end with the tying run at the plate, on a hard line drive to a jumping shortstop.

The Bismarck Larks fall to 5-4 on the season but they will be back in action on Thursday against Eau Claire in game two of this four game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
