Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
ROCKFORD, IL - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (5-4) fell to the Rockford Rivets (5-4) in 10 innings on a Tuesday night at Rivets Stadium with a score of 10-9.
The away team wasted no time getting on the board first after Alex Henwood (Nebraska) ripped one into center field for a triple which drove home Brad Hudson (Southern Illinois). Fondy would then grab a 3-0 lead when Mitch Boe (Iowa) belted one into right field for a ground rule double that sent home two runs.
Rockford had runs in four straight innings starting in the 4th starting with a sacrifice fly. The Rivets added two runs in the 4th, one in the 5th, and two in the 6th/7th. The Dock Spiders grabbed one in the 6th when Brad Hudson had an RBI single sending Pat Sisk (Furman) home who reached earlier in the inning on a 3rd dropped strike. Rockford led Fond du Lac 7-4 after 7 innings.
It was big 8th inning for the Dock Spiders which consisted of 3 runs scored for Fondy. Hudson got his second RBI of the night when he launched a ball into left field which resulted in a double. With Henwood at the plate he advanced to first on an error by the shortstop which also ended in two runs scored for the Dock Spiders.
The Rivets found themselves tied at 7 a piece going into the bottom of the 8th and Mike Hope (Shippenburg) came up huge and was able to get two strikeouts and not led the Rivets get on the scoreboard.
Then in the 9th inning Boe continued his hot start to the season hitting a single into left field which drove in two runs to put the Dock Spiders on top 9-7. The Naperville, IL native finished the day 2/6, 4 RBIs, and reached base 5/6 plate appearances.
Rockford answered right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings.
After not finding any runs in the top of the 10th, the Rivets had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th which resulted in them coming out on top in walk of fashion when the batter at the plate was walked to first.
Brad Hudson finished the night having one of his best games in a Dock Spider uniform finishing the night 3/5 with 2 RBIs. The Allen, TX native now has 3 multi hit games this season and is now 7/18.
The two teams will meet tomorrow night at Rivets Stadium for a 6:35 first pitch.
