Kalamazoo, MI - August 10, 2014. Tonight, the Madison Mallards (20-18, 38-33) square off against the Kalamazoo Growlers (16-20, 29-42) in their final game of the 2014 Northwoods League season.

Mallards starter Alex Pondick looks for his fourth win of the year after tossing six innings in his last start, striking out six while allowing just one run in a 6-1 win over the Alexandria Blue Anchors.

Last night, Mallards starter Nate Hoffmann (Madison College) tallied five strikeouts and right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) hit a two run jack in the third inning to lead the Mallards past the Growlers in by a score of 5-1.

Hoffmann was solid in his third start, allowing one run in five innings of work to earn his third win. Marabell added an RBI single in the ninth to finish 3-for-5 with three RBI. Also aiding in the win was Mallards third baseman Trent Higginbothem (North Florida), who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double.
