Bullfrogs Walk-Off as Winners in Season Finale

Green Bay, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Green Bay Bullfrogs closed out their seasons at Joannes Stadium on Sunday night. With the score tied at zero through the first eight innings of play, the Bullfrogs Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne) drew a bases loaded walk that scored Matt Beaty (Belmont) and gave Green Bay the win by a score of 1-0.

In the ninth inning, Beaty and Brian Celsi (California) led the inning off with back-to-back singles. After the Rafters got two outs, Ryan Howell (Chabot) drew a walk that loaded up the bases for de la Rosa. De la Rosa then walked on five pitches to score Beaty and send the Bullfrogs off as winners in the season finale.

Jason Freeman (Texas A&M) threw eight scoreless innings and gave up just two hits to Green Bay but earned a no decision on Sunday.

Sam Brunner (Dodge City CC) threw one and two-thirds innings to pick up the win for the Bullfrogs. Brunner gave up just one hit and no runs to the Rafters.

Justin Schander (Phoenix College) took the loss for Wisconsin Rapids on Sunday. He started the ninth inning and allowed the two hits to Beaty and Celsi.

The Bullfrogs finish the 2014 season with a 36-36 overall record and went 19-18 in the second half of the season.

With 1,686 fans at Sunday's game, the Bullfrogs also broke the record for attendance in a season. Over 42,000 fans came through the gates at Joannes Stadium this season.
