
Mallards Host Motor City and Kansas City This Weekend

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL â The Mallards are home for two of their three games this weekend. The team travels to Fort Wayne for a Friday night match-up with the Komets. On Saturday the Mallards are at The MARK to take on the Motor City Mechanics. Sunday, the Mallards host the Kansas City Outlaws on Family Fun-Day Sunday. Last week, the Mallards went 1-2-1. The week started with a 3-1 loss on Wednesday in Port Huron. On Friday, the Mallards lost 5-4 in a shootout in Muskegon. The team returned home to split a pair of weekend contests. On Saturday, the Missouri River Otters beat the Mallards 3-2. On Sunday, the Mallards remained perfect vs. the Eastern Division with a 5-0 win over Richmond. Quad City is now 4-0-0 vs. Eastern Division teams.

· Saturday, February 26th vs. the Motor City Mechanics-Scout Night / Sleepover
The Mallards welcome Scout Groups for an overnight sleepover at The MARK. The sleepover will follow the Mallards game vs. Motor City. For more information, contact the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. The Motor City roster features four NHLers including future Hall of Famer Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Sean Avery and Bryan Smolinski.

Family Fun-Day Sunday features an appearance by SpongeBob SquarePants and a pre-game skate from 1:15-2:00 p.m.

The Mallards welcome Church groups from throughout the Quad City area for All Faiths Night. Strongman Bud Jeffries will be on hand to perform feats of strength and share his inspirational message.

The Mallards visit the Komets on Friday in Fort Wayne. The last time the teams met, on February 5th in Fort Wayne, the Komets scored twice in the third period to down the Mallards 3-2.
· Saturday, February 26th vs. the Motor City Mechanics at The MARK
The Mechanics visit The MARK for the second time this year on Saturday. The Mallards beat the Mechanics 2-1 in a shootout on November 19th in the teams' only previous meeting at The MARK. The Motor City roster features NHL stars Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Sean Avery and Bryan Smolinski.
· Sunday, February 27th vs. the Kansas City Outlaws at The MARK
The Mallards have won five of six meetings with the Outlaws this year. At The MARK, the Mallards are 3-0-0 vs. Kansas City.

Tonight, the Mallards are back at The Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge for Duck Talk beginning at 7 p.m. This week's guests are Jeff Reynaert, Andy Fermoyle and Jason Lehoux along with coach Paul Gillis. Duck Talk can also be heard on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230.

Quad City fell behind 2-0 on first period goals at David Beauregard and Aaron Brand. The Beacons made it 3-0 with a second period power-play goal by Chris Slater. Frantisek Skladany scored the lone Mallards goal at 18:48 of the second.
Friday, February 18th-Mallards 4 at Muskegon 5-Shootout
The Mallards suffered a 5-4 shootout defeat to the Muskegon Fury on Friday night at Walker Arena. The Mallards jumped to a 4-0 lead before allowing four unanswered second period goals. In the first, Mike Kompon scored twice to set the Mallards lead at 2-0. Kompon's second goal was his 17th of the year, good for first overall amongst the Mallards in goal scoring. Joe Dusbabek added his 10th goal of the season before the first ended. Dusbabek is the fourth Mallard to reach double digits in goals this year. Early in the second, A.J. MacLean scored his sixth goal to give the Mallards a 4-0 lead. Muskegon stormed back in the second to tie the game after 40 minutes. Billy Collins scored the first Muskegon goal at the 5:21 mark of the period. Jordan Flodell added a pair in the middle of the frame. Brant Blackned scored on a breakaway as the second period expired to tie the game at four. A scoreless third period featured a combined 22 shots on goal. Robert Gherson turned away 10 shots in the Mallards net while Sylvain Daigle made 12 stops for the Fury. In the shootout, Jeff Nelson and B.J. Gaustad scored for Muskegon while Dusbabek tallied the only Mallards marker. With the loss, the Mallards fell to 4-9 in shootouts.
Saturday, February 19th-Missouri 3 at Mallards 2
A late Mallards comeback fell short in a 3-2 defeat on Saturday vs. Missouri at The MARK. Missouri scored three power-play goals in the win while being outshot 37-18. Mark Odut scored in the first and Glenn Detulleo tallied in the second to give Missouri a 2-0 lead. Mike Kompon cut the Otters lead in half with his 18th goal of the season at 5:01 of the second period. The rookie forward leads the Mallards in goal scoring. Frank Littlejohn scored an insurance goal for Missouri at 15:24 of the third. Alexandre Mathieu scored his third goal of the season at 17:27 of the third to set the final at 3-2. A late Mallards power play didn't convert as the team fell to 22-23-9 on the season.
Sunday, February 20th-Richmond 0 at Mallards 5
Robert Gherson earned his first pro shutout as the Mallards cruised to a 5-0 win vs. Richmond. A.J. MacLean, Greg Barber and Terry Hollinger scored in the first to stake the Mallards to a 3-0 lead. In the second, the Mallards were outshot 15-2. Gherson made several spectacular saves in the middle frame to preserve his shutout. In the third, Hollinger added a second goal and Mike Kompon tallied his team-leading 19th goal of the season on a power-play.
Player of the Week-Mike Kompon is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. Kompon recorded four goals and an assist for five points in four games this week.
Goaltender of the Week-Robert Gherson is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He recorded his first shutout on Sunday vs. Richmond. On the week, Gherson went 1-0-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.
