Port Huron Flags News Release
In Brief
· 2/16: Last Visit from the Mallards
David Beauregard made his return from an undisclosed injury and made it right away. After missing the previous five games, Beauregard (37) scored on his first shift just 1:10 into the game. Andrew McPherson (31) and Joey Sewell (21) had the helpers. Just four minutes later the Beacons striked again, this time short-handed as Aaron Brand (22) led the breakaway and roofed one over the Mallards Goaltender, Jeff Reynaert. The Beacons headed into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead, then striked once more in the second as Chris Slater (5) beat the Mallards on the power-play to take a 3-0 lead just five minutes into the second. The Mallards would manage to tally one goal, however, that would be it as Daniel Berthiaume shut the door making 37 saves on 38 shots for the win.
· 2/18: Beacons Steal A Point
Port Huron trailed the whole game until 9:07 of the third period when Gabriel Proulx (10) rifled a shot past former Border Cat, Kevin St. Pierre to cut the lead in half at 2-1. That power-play goal was helped by Aaron Brand (38) and Josh Tataryn (10). Two minutes later Joey Sewell (22) tied the game at 2 when Brand (39) and David Beauregard (21) made the assists. It would stay that way for the remainder of the period and both teams settled for the shootout. Josh Tataryn, who continues his excellence in shootouts, scored the lone Beacon goal; he is now 5 for 9 this year, which leads the team in shootout percentage.
· 2/19: Second Game of the Home And Home
In the second game of the home and home the Komets were all over the Beacons. Fort Wayne never trailed the game as the Beacons only scored one goal. That lone goal was scored by Aaron Brand (23) with assists by Chris Slater (17) and Trevor Edwards (17). Daniel Berthiaume made 26 saves on 30 shots for another Beacon defeat.
· 2/20: Real Wings defeat Beacons
The final game of the weekend saw the Beacons face the real Wings of the UHL. However, the Beacons could only manage two goals against those real Wings. Scoring for the Beacons were, David Wyzgowski (4) and Andrew McPherson (8). Josh Tataryn did his part as he added two assists (11,12). Once again Daniel Berthiaume made the start making 35 saves on 39 shots.
