Week In Review - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League posted a record of 1-1 in league play last week. On Friday, February 18, 2005 the Generals defeated the Richmond Riverdogs in a shootout 6-5. Rob Valicevic paced the attack with one goal and two assist. Valicevic also scored the game-deciding goal in the shootout. Bobby Reynolds (19), Andrei Lupandin (6) and Jason Selleke (5) also scored for Flint. Jim Duhart and Mike Kinnie had two assists. Goaltender Dan McIntyre earned his 12th victory of the season. On Saturday, February 19, 2005 the Generals dropped a 5-2 decision against the Kalamazoo Wings at Perani's Arena. This was the debut for the newest Generals' defenseman, NHL veteran Jason Woolley who contributed with one goal. John DiPace (12) also scored.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee - Right wing Rob Valicevic is our nominee for the Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week ending February 20, 2005. In two games, Valicevic had two goals and one assist for three points. He scored the game-deciding goal in the shootout victory over Richmond.

Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Dan McIntyre is our nominee for the Southern Sports Supply/UHL Goaltender of the Week ending February 20, 2005. McIntyre posted a record of 1-1 for the week and recorded the 6-5 shootout victory over Richmond on Friday night.

Flint and Fort Wayne will meet for the final two regular season meetings this week. Flint is 2-2 against the Komets this season. Leading scorers are centers Sean Venedam (32g, 33a, 65 pts) and Colin Chaulk (14g, 50a, 64 pts.) along with left wing P.C. Drouin (16g, 19a, 55 pts.) Right wing Jeff Whorlton (267) leads the Komets in penalty minutes. Goaltender Kevin St Pierre (23-7-2) has seen most of the action for between the pipes this season. Fort Wayne carries a two-game winning streak into Wednesday night's game. The Komets defeated Port Huron 3-2 in a shootout on Friday night at McMorran Arena and again against Port Huron 4-1 Saturday night at Fort Wayne. The Komets host Quad City on Friday and Kalamazoo on Saturday before heading to Flint.

Friday marks the sixth of nine regular season meetings against the Mechanics. Flint is 3-1-1 against Motor City this season. Motor City has taken on a new look in recent weeks with the signing of NHL-er Chris Chelios, Kris Draper, Sean Avery, Darien Hatcher and Bryan Smolinski. The leading scorers are center Blair Manning (12g, 31a, 43 pts.) and right wing Joe Burton (20g, 14a, 34 pts.) Brad Cruickshank (195) leads the Mechanics in penalty minutes. Motor City posted a record of 2-1 last week with a 4-2 victory over visiting Richmond on Wednesday before earning a two-game split on Danbury and Friday and Saturday night. The Mechanics travel to Kalamazoo on Wednesday and Quad City on Saturday. They will wrap up their weekend hosting the Missouri River Otters on Sunday.

Saturday will mark the seventh of nine regular season meetings against Port Huron. Flint is 3-1-2 against the Beacons this year. Port Huron's leading scorers are center Aaron Brand (23g, 39a, 62 pts.) and David Beauregard (37g, 21a, 58 pts.) Right wing Mat Goody (152) leads Port Huron in penalty minutes. The Beacons posted a record of 1-2-1 last week. Port Huron defeated the visiting Quad City Mallards 3-1 on Wednesday night. Port Huron dropped at 3-2 shootout against Fort Wayne on Friday at McMorran Arena. The Beacons made a return visit to Fort Wayne on Saturday night dropping a 4-1 decision. The weekend ended with a 4-2 loss at Kalamazoo on Sunday afternoon. Port Huron has two games scheduled this week. Before Saturday night's game against the Generals, the Beacons host Muskegon on Friday.

Record: (24-22-10, 58 pts.) Third Place, Central Division. Ninth Place Overall

Leading scorers: Bobby Reynolds, (19g, 53a, 72pts.), Rob Valicevic (27g, 38a, 65 pts.) and Mike Kinnie (28g, 27a, 55 pts.) Penalty minutes leader is Kris Waltze (221). Kinnie leads all rookies in points (55), goals (28), power play goals (13) and shooting percentage (.207). Reynolds is currently tied for third in league scoring, Valicevic is currently tied for seventh. Valicevic (5) is also tied for the league lead in short-handed goals. The Generals are currently fifth overall on the power play and ninth overall in penalty killing percentage.

Schedule Change - The Flint Generals have announced a schedule change for the "Morning Matinee". The game against the Muskegon Fury originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, 2005 has been changed. The new date is Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Perani's Arena.
